The Swanky Stork combines comfort, style and affordability.

When it comes to maternity wear, comfort and style don’t have to be mutually exclusive. At The Swanky Stork in Vestavia, you can find pieces that are both comfortable and stylish at affordable prices.

Bryson Kessler, one of The Swanky Stork’s founders, said the concept of the store originated from a hole she discovered in the maternity wear industry.

“When I was pregnant with my second child, I couldn’t find clothes that still showcased my style,” Kessler said.

Kessler and her two sisters, Maryann and Beth, opened the The Swanky Stork in October 2007 to fill that hole. The boutique specializes in integrating cutting-edge and trendy styles with practical, durable maternity wear.

Kessler and her sisters look for four things when deciding what to feature in the storefront: style, quality, comfort and price.

“We try to be right on the cutting edge of the trend, from shoes to jewelry to bags,” she said. “In pregnancy, you wear the same clothes a lot more than you normally would. We look at pieces that are going to last and that won’t fade and will hold up. We do our best to find the best quality for the best prices.”

The Swanky Stork celebrated its 10-year anniversary in October, tying the celebration in with the observation of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“Our mom passed away from cancer when we were teenagers,” Kessler said, “and my youngest sister is currently battling melanoma, so we constantly want to support [cancer research and awareness] the best way we can.”

The Swanky Stork is located at 3118 Cahaba Heights Road and is open Monday-Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 972-1414.
