FlowerBuds wants to be the one-stop shop for all floral needs. Established in 2004 in Vestavia by Ray Jordan and Janet Jackson, the full-service shop made the move to Cahaba Heights eight years ago. 

Jordan has been in the flower industry for over 30 years. “It’s wonderful to get up every morning and love what you do,” he said. 

The goal of the company is to become a personal flower shop for its customers. “We love having the one-on-one relationships with customers,” Jordan said. “It’s a great pleasure to have someone get excited when you walk in with a delivery of flowers.” 

FlowerBuds is a full-service florist, offering special arrangements for pick-up or delivery, cash-and-carry arrangements, loose flowers, sympathy flowers and prom flowers. 

They also assist with floral arrangements and décor for weddings and special events. Some special events they’ve done in the past include the UAB Alys Stephens Gala, the Pointe Ball and the American Cancer Hope Gala. Their flowers are quality blooms obtained locally and often imported from Holland, South America, and California. 

In addition to floral services, FlowerBuds functions as a home décor and gift shop. Around the holidays, customers can find an array of seasonal decorations including ornaments, wreaths, garland, trees and much more. They’re also known for their variety of Christmas ribbon. 

Being in the floral business means being a part of the important events in peoples’ lives, and this appeals to Jordan. 

“You get to see people when they’re born and go through every aspect of life,” he said. “You’re there for all the events of their lives.”
