Climb your way to the top this summer.
If it’s adventure and thrills your child is seeking this summer, High Point Climbing Summer Camps are the place to be! In addition to learning how to rock climb, campers will also learn about teamwork, communication and trust.
High Point Climbing Summer Camps run for eight weeks in the summer, starting June 4 and ending July 27. The camps start at 9 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. and include a T-shirt, snack and all the gear needed for climbing.
While all ages will have opportunities to climb, children of different ages will learn specific skills. In addition to learning climbing techniques and appropriate equipment usage, older children (ages 11-14) will learn how to properly belay, which is the role of the person on the ground who supports the climber by rope. With this skill, campers will learn how to arrest a fall, how to tie specific climbing knots and receive in-depth information about the mechanical side of belaying.
Once campers have successfully mastered the skill of belaying, they’ll be able to work with other campers, both their age and younger, to assist them in climbing, all under the supervision of our experienced camp counselors. This promotes high levels of interaction, communication and teamwork between the campers as theyexplore the varied terrains High Point has to offer.
What sets High Point Summer Camps apart from other camps? Each day will be four hours of physical activity and campers will leave stronger, smarter and with sense of self-confidence and accomplishment.
