Dynamic family team shares a passion for local real estate

Johnny “Ironman” Montgomery’s passion for real estate runs in the family. Since he entered the business in 1977, his wife, Liz Montgomery, and more recently their son, Raymond Woods, have joined forces with him to meet housing needs in the community.

Eighteen years ago, Liz and Johnny’s paths crossed. Liz Montgomery had worked at SouthTrust Bank for 20 years but didn’t want to relocate when the bank was bought out by Wachovia in 2004. Johnny didn’t want her to move either, so he proposed. They were married in 2005, and the two joined forces with their professional passions.

Liz partnered with Johnny in the real estate business, which led her to start NorthStar Realty, LLC, a property management company. They also work together with ERA King Real Estate Company providing a dynamic team to assist home buyers and sellers.

Recently there’s been another familial addition to this power team. Liz’s son, Raymond Woods, joined the team in the fall of 2017 after graduating from the University of Alabama in 2016. “He brings a millennial perspective to the business,” Liz said. “He helps with the technology sides of things and helps Johnny with the marketing aspects, like Facebook and managing websites.”

Since joining the team, Raymond has also been helping Liz with the “backroom” operations of the business, such as accounting and learning how to enter listings. “Working behind the scenes will give him the knowledge and confidence he needs to work with clients,” Liz said.

Raymond’s addition to the team gives both Johnny and Liz more time to get more listings and buyers, and more time to spend with their grandchildren, Evie and Izzy Cleckler.
