Rock your way through the summer.

From basic music concepts to learning to rock a Led Zeppelin song to learning to write, record and perform an original song, Mason Music Studios will offer a wide variety of training through its summer camp offerings at its studios in Bluff Park, Cahaba Heights, Greystone and Mountain Brook.

Students, ages 10-18, can transform into Led Zeppelin for a week to honor the band’s 50th anniversary during a special Rock Band Camp.

Mason Music is looking for four John Bonhams (drummers), six to eight Jimmy Pages (electric guitarists), four John Paul Joneses (drummers), six to eight Robert Plants (vocalists, male or female), four keyboardists and string players. Bands can sign up together or be drafted into a band of similar age and skill level to Ramble on for the full-day, week-long experience, June 18-22, in Cahaba Heights, which will conclude with a “battle of the bands.”

During the last week of July, students who have at least 2 years of training on their instrument can experience both the studio and the stage at the Overdrive Rock Band Camp for ages 13-18. This one-of-a-kind camp will plug musicians into bands to write songs and record them together for an EP in a professional studio and a public performance at the end of the week.

Mason Music’s camp offerings are not only for seasoned musicians. The bulk of the offerings are for preschoolers, ages 3-5, and beginners, ages 6-9, through the STARS Preschool Music Camp, which will explore musical concepts in a creative environment, and Mason Music Camp for Beginners, which teaches instrument basics.

Each camp is offered four times during the summer, once at each of the four studios. There will also be a Spring Break Camp for Beginners, March 26-30, at both Bluff Park and Cahaba Heights.
